August 2008 MIDWEST CORVETTE CHEVY SHOW in Valparaiso Indiana:
Gino Burelli put the pedal to the metal this year with his second attempt as owner of the MIDWEST Show! Just about 65 miles south east of the Chicago city limits, resides a very nice Show that is gathering a lot of attention among Corvette and Chevy enthusiasts alike. In spite of Last year’s Show being met with rain and gloom, this year’s event was great. The food was good, the music was nice, the staff was friendly and the weather was perfect. What else could you ask for? As we walked around we met up with Reeves Callaway, whom was displaying an original Callaway Twin-Turbo, and a few of his latest (See Photo Gallery) Super Charged Corvettes. Reeves told VETTESTER that his Corvettes can be purchased through Gino Burelli’s Harbor Automotive Group, and are readily available for test drives. Dave Glass of D&M CORVETTE and his top sales specialist Rich Zelasko were also present with some of their rare examples for sale, as well as Dave’s personal Corvette Gassers. The MIDWEST Show has all sorts of venues going on at one time: While NCRS Judges Terry McManmon and Brian Pearce were judging some very rare and outstanding Corvettes, another group of people were admiring a 1963 Split Window “Resto-Mod”! This Corvette built by Mike Haluska of Retro Tech in Avon Indiana is a rolling work of art. (See Photo Gallery) It has an LS7 engine with a Six-Speed and all the creature comforts of a new model. Video interviews with Mike Haluska and Reeves Callaway will be posted in the near future. VETTESTER congratulates Gino Burelli and his Staff on a fine Show! See you Next Year, Frank Pope |
