D & M Corvette Specialists of Downers Grove, Illinois, hosted an outstanding Open House on Saturday, May 16, 2009. It wasn't your usual display of CORVETTES only, but an array of all kinds of Cars from the 50's, 60's, and 70's. DON'T GET ME WRONG; I am a BONIFIED CORVETTE NUT! But it was nice to mix it up a little with some outstanding Cars from my youth. My two favorites were Chicagolands Famous 1957 Chevy Racer; "Shake Rattle and Run", owned by Dick Messino and Son's, and John Gottfried's Street version, "The PHANTOM." Both of these fine examples appeared in many Shows together back in the mid 60's and drew a lot of attention from the spectators. What made the event even better, was visiting with John Gottfried and "Shake Rattle & Run's former Driver Eric Schmidt. VETTESTER Salutes D & M owner David Glass on a Great Show.
