ZR1 of a KIND

Monday July 21, 2008, a day that will be marked in CORVETTE History: The Bowling Green Assembly Plant was filled with excitement and much fanfare as the Birth of a Legendary CORVETTE was completed. The $1 million one of a Kind LeMans Blue ZR1 rolled of the line at approximately 12:30 pm. with proud owner Dave Ressler behind the wheel while his Granddaughter Ayden Lynn sat on his lap blowing the horn. (See Pictures ) 

When he fired up the engine his Family and friends looked on with pride, as photo journalists and videographers surrounded the car, taking full advantage of the opportunity to capture the event of the first production line CORVETTE that sold for $1 million.  When the Car went through completion of all checks and tests, it was driven out of the building and parked next to Ressler’s 1953 CORVETTE; the oldest production line CORVETTE in the world, VIN number E53F001003. What a site to see.
 
NOW before we get ahead of ourselves; this particular CORVETTE will be the only BRAND NEW production model to be sold for a Million Dollars this year and maybe any year. This now Famous ZR1 was auctioned off for charity on January 19, 2008 at the annual Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale AZ. It had reached a high mark with Dave Ressler’s bid of $900,000.00 when Guest Auctioneer Jay Leno turned to the exited crowd and stated, “We can get a Million Dollars for this Car”!   At that moment Ressler shot back and said, “I will give a Million Dollars for this Car”!  After besting his own bid, no one challenged him, and the gavel pounded the board. Jay Leno then made a nice gesture to  Mr. Ressler by offering him the option of taking delivery at his BIG DOG GARAGE; but he graciously declined the offer making for a great day in Bowling Green Ky.

What makes this CORVETTE unique is that it is the only one built with RPO BD1, LeMans Blue paint, and a special VIN number  It’s a ZR1 of a KIND.
As for those of you who don’t know of Dave Ressler, he is a GM. Dealer who is an avid CORVETTE enthusiast and collector;
